Feature Phones are getting more and more popular all around the globe. For instance, India has more feature phone users coming second after Android beating Apple. Recently, Xiaomi joined the party by introducing its first-ever feature phones in the Chinese market. The brand announced two new phones under the Qin family – Xiaomi Qin 1 and Xiaomi Qin 1s. Both the smartphones are a part of a crowdfunding project which is receiving good response from the people in China. As of now, the project is being backed up by around 27521 people raising CNY 7.6million.
Qin name is inspired by a famous Chinese dynasty and is pronounced more like “chin” in English.
Xiaomi Qin 1 specifications and features
The Qin 1 comes with a small 2.8-inch screen with a resolution of 240 x 320 pixels. The device is powered by MediaTek MT6260A chipset having one ARM7 CPU core coupled with 8 MB RAM and 16 MB of onboard storage. Since this is a feature phone, there is a keypad tucked along with the screen. This feature phone is not that smart since it does not have any GPS or LTE. Although, you still get Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.2 capabilities packed inside.
All of this runs on an OS which goes by the name “Nucleus”. You do get an option to use dual sim on the device which most of the users prefer. It has 1,480 mAh capacity battery packed inside which, according to the brand, can give you enough juice to last for 15 days.
Although there are some of the basic stuff which this device lacks big time. There are no cameras either on the back or on the front. On top of that, this device also lacks 3.5-mm headphone jack.
Xiaomi Qin 1s specifications and features
The Qin 1s, on the other hand, is more like a higher variant of the Xiaomi Qin 1. It also comes with a 2.8-inch small screen with a resolution of 240 x 320 pixels. Xiaomi Qin 1s is powered by a Spreadtrum SC9820 chipset having two Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.2 GHz. This variant has more RAM as well as internal storage than the Qin 1- 256MB RAM and 512MB storage.
Unlike Qin 1, the Qin 1s does include VoLTE, GPS, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth 4.2. Again, there is no cameras as well as the 3.5-mm headphone jack on this device too. Both the feature phones have USB Type-C for charging and a speaker grille on the bottom. Apart from that, the Qin 1, as well as Qin 1s, measures 132 x 53.8 x 8.5 mm.
Another interesting thing about this device is that it supports some AI-related capabilities which in a feature phone is a big deal. On top of that, you also get a 4G radio functionality. Both the devices are available in two different color options – Black and White. The shipping will begin from September 15 with a price tag of $30 (roughly Rs. 2000).
Speaking of availability in India, there is no word on it as of now. Since this is a crowdfunding project, the phones might not hit the Indian shore soon.
