2018 is going to be a grander year for Apple as all the iPhone models coming next year will sport a design similar to the iPhone X. Ming-Chi Kuo from KGI Securities recently said that the 2018 iPhone models will be coming with a battery capacity that would be larger than the current-gen iPhones.
For the people who don’t already know, Apple will be launching three iPhone models next year with varying screen sizes. Two of them would be the top of the line iPhones with OLED displays of 5.8 inches and 6.5 inches, while one of them would be a more ‘affordable’ variant and will come with a 6.1-inch LCD panel.
Kuo predicts that the 2018 iPhone variants with OLED panels would include between 2900mAh and 3000mAh of battery capacity. While the other 6.1-inch display model can also expect a bump in the battery size, but it would retain the current battery design to save costs.
Ming-Chi Kuo has done similar predictions in the past, too, and it isn’t often for him being wrong. One of his earlier predictions is, in fact, the presence of three iPhone models for 2018. He also suggested that iPhones will finally get dual-SIM support with the 2018 iterations.
As mentioned earlier, all the 2018 iPhone variants will sport an iPhone X-like design. What it means is that the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus are the last iPhone models to come with the iconic Apple iPhone design including, of course, the Home button and Touch ID. All the three devices will be sporting the Face ID along with the new design.
Another development around the 6-1-inch variant of the 2018 iPhone suggests that the phone would roll back to the metal back design similar to the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus. The report comes from Nikkei, and it means that the model won’t be supporting wireless charging capabilities. This could perhaps be a cost-cutting measure to keep the prices closer to the lower end.
