Apple reportedly plans to produce over 10 million foldable iPhones in 2026

Apple’s iPhone Ultra production is expected to reach 10 million units in 2026, signaling a huge interest in the offering. The upcoming iPhone Fold marks the maiden launch of a foldable phone years after it has been under work and more than half a dozen iterations from rivals such as Samsung, Oppo, OnePlus, and Huawei, to name a few.

According to Nikkei, Apple has asked its suppliers to mint over 10 million foldable iPhones in 2026. This is a massive jump over an earlier estimate of 7 to 8 million units reserved for the foldable device. There’s also a report that suppliers are set to produce over 70 million units of the iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max, bringing the total for the new iPhone lineup this year to around 220 million units.

Both the iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max are arriving this year, and in fact, we may witness the unveiling of the iPhone Fold at the upcoming fall event as well. It could happen either on September 8 or 9, although the latter appears to hold more gravitas. The Fold is likely to cost around $2,500 for the base and $3,000 for the higher storage configuration, although the actual prices will be out soon. Turns out the iPhone Ultra (Fold) is on track for its massive debut after reports surfaced around its delayed launch.

Foldable display panel shipments expected to increase by 24%

According to a report by Counterpoint Research, the foldable phone market is expected to jump by 24% this year, along with an expected rise in revenues by 45% YoY. The report mentions Samsung Display taking the lion’s share in Q1 2026 compared to Q1 2025, securing a market share of 22%; BOE has a market share of 45% this year compared to 52% in Q1 2025, while both Visionox and TCL are taking large shares of the pie as well.
