The OnePlus 16 launch is imminent as the phone recently got a green signal from China’s MIIT that certified the radio capabilities of smartphones. Filed by Oppo under model number PYB110, the certification shows support for WCDMA, GSM, 5G, and WLAN, passing which puts the OnePlus 16 an inch closer to its launch sometime next month.
OnePlus 16 launch nears after China radio certification
According to leakster Digital Chat Station (DCS), the phone bearing model number PYB110, filed by Oppo Guangdong Mobile Communications (aka Oppo), has been certified by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) in China. The model number is linked closely to the upcoming OnePlus 16, dubbed to arrive with ‘exclusive gaming technologies’ and the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro.
The certification doesn’t confirm any specs (that we don’t already know) but puts forward support for TD-LTE, LTE FDD, 5G, WLAN, GSM, and WCDMA connectivity. The listing also mentioned the certified N79 5G band (4,800-4,960 MHz), enlisting the device’s capability with wireless radio connectivity out there.
The OnePlus 16 series is inching closer to the launch with the state-of-the-art Snapdragon processor, perhaps the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro SoC, the first of two phones to bring the chipset to the table with respect to Oppo’s lineage. The chipset is built on a 2nm node by TSMC with next-gen Oryon GPU cores and offers the best performance, sitting on top of the hierarchy of Snapdragon chipsets out there.
What’s interesting is that the device will feature exclusive gaming technologies including ‘High Refresh Rate’ up to 165Hz, ‘E-Sports Triple Chip,’ and ‘Wind Chaser Gaming Core,’ each of which will bring enhancements during hardcore gaming sessions.
The leaked teaser also shows a circular camera bump presumably making a comeback. I would go for a squaricle-shaped module on board the OnePlus 15 any day; however, it seems like the OnePlus 16 wants to do something different.

To summarize, the OnePlus 15 arrived last year in October with a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC, 120W SuperVOOC charging with a 7,300 mAh battery, a Glacier Cooling System, up to 16GB of RAM, and, of course, improved performance over the predecessor. It is apparent that the OnePlus 16 will outdo the OnePlus 15 once it arrives in September or October this year.
