The initial A20 Pro Geekbench results for Apple’s newest iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max have surfaced on the benchmark platform, revealing a first glimpse of how the company’s latest chip offered in the latest iPhone Pro lineup performs in reality. Notably, the listing has so far revealed a major performance gain compared to the A19 Pro chip used in the iPhone 17 Pro. Now, we will see how the new chip performs and compares with its predecessor.
Early A20 Pro Geekbench results show strong CPU gains
The purported iPhone 18 Pro listing shows a 4,719 single-core score and a 12,677 multi-score in the Geekbench 6 database. In contrast, the iPhone 18 Pro Max also bought similar results, scoring a 4,725 score in single-core and a 12,575 in multi-core testing.
Since both devices use the same chipset, it is obvious to notice a six-core CPU running at 4.93GHz (approximately).


If we compare it with its predecessor, the A19 Pro chip incorporated in the iPhone 17 Pro, there’s a significant jump in the A20 Pro chip in terms of performance. It is deliberately about 23% faster in single-core and about 28% in multi-core performance.
A20 Pro delivers an even bigger GPU upgrade
Moving to the GPU section, the early graphics results are perhaps more surprising. Here, the A20 Pro chip, according to Apple, features a seven-core GPU. On the other hand, its previous generation chip, the A19 Pro, features a six-core GPU. Now, the initial Geekbench Metal result has suggested that the A20 Pro’s GPU is approximately 40% faster than the A19 Pro’s GPU.
However, GPU benchmark scores are something that you should use only to predict its real-life performance. In reality, the benchmark testing can have different results due to the phone’s condition, thermal management, software optimization, storage capacity, and many other conditions.
