Android Emergency Live Video adds real-time awareness to emergencies
Google explained that Android Emergency Live Video requires no prior setup and activates only during an emergency call or text. If a dispatcher determines that live video could improve their understanding of the situation, and it is safe for the user to share, they can send a video request directly to the user’s device.
Upon receiving the prompt, users can begin streaming from their camera with a single tap. Google states that the live feed is encrypted by default, and users maintain full control throughout the process. Streaming can be stopped immediately at any point.
The feature also allows responders to provide more accurate guidance in real time, such as walking callers through CPR or other life-saving steps while professional help is on the way. Google says the goal is to reduce communication gaps during high-stress situations where describing the scene verbally may be difficult.
