Apple Blocks Fortnite: Why iOS Users Still Can’t Play the Game

Epic Games should have been able to bring Fortnite back to iPhones and iPads after winning a lawsuit earlier this month. The court’s ruling supported Epic’s use of its payment system, which was the main point of contention in the initial fallout in 2020.

After Epic introduced a direct payment option, which was against Apple’s policy at the time, Fortnite was taken out of the App Store. As of right now, Fortnite hasn’t recovered despite the court’s decision in favor of Epic.

Why? Since Apple is contesting the ruling. Apple has requested that the court postpone any modifications to its App Store policies while the appeal is pending. Thus, until the appeal is resolved and Fortnite is excluded, nothing will change.

What is Causing the Slowdown?

Tim Sweeney, the CEO of Epic, has voiced his frustration, claiming that Apple’s delay is inexplicable. Before being permitted to reappear in the App Store, new or returning apps typically undergo a standard review process.

However, Fortnite’s review appears to be taking much longer than anticipated, perhaps as a result of the ongoing legal battle. To put it briefly, the legal process is still ongoing. Keeping things unclear is part of Apple’s appeal.

Even if Epic wins in court, it still needs Apple’s consent to proceed, and Apple isn’t giving it yet. The confrontation is still going on. Despite a court decision that should have allowed Fortnite to return to iOS, Apple still blocks it.

iOS users are left waiting and will once again lose out on one of the most well-liked games in the world because the appeal process is still ongoing, and there is no set timeframe. The future of Fortnite on Apple devices is still up in the air until a final court ruling is made.
