It is known that Apple’s iPhones are the hot-selling product in company’s lineup since a long time but it is also a fact that iPad lineup from the company is also not far behind. We have seen that Android tablets are not anywhere close to iPads when it is about hardware and software combination because one or the other is underwhelming most of the times.

As many would know, Apple’s iPad Pro is the best tablet that the company makes but then comes the iPad Air lineup which is a premium iPad but not the best. This is also the preferred choice for people who don’t want to spend way too much on iPad Pro but also want some performance.

Now that we have seen a new design language for the iPad Pro and its new version has also been released, users want to see a refresh for the iPad Air as well. And looks like Apple has heard them because a new report from MyDrivers has revealed that the design we have seen on iPad Pro might be coming to the iPad Air next. This means we will see reduced bezels on the iPad Air and it will have an 11-inch display in the same form factor.

However, there needs to be something that the iPad Air 11-inch will not have compared to the iPad Pro 11-inch to not sabotage the later. So it is believed that the cameras on iPad Air will not be as great as the iPad Pro and the performance will also be inferior. Also, the report interestingly mentions that iPad Air will also have USB Type-C port for charging and file transfer and ditch the lightning port. With this, iPad Air will also follow iPad Pro’s path in removing the proprietary Apple port from its tablet devices.

But, we fail to understand why Apple is not willing to ditch the lightning port from their iPhones in favour of USB Type-C because it would make perfect sense to have a universal port for all Apple products since MacBooks also have Type-C for charging now.

Coming back to the report, the iPad Air 4 is said to be arriving later this year which hints at a fall 2020 release along with or after the iPhone 12 series has been announced. Also, a new iPad Mini with a 9-inch display is said to be coming next year.
