- Apple is reportedly working on an upgraded Vision Pro headset with M5 chipset.
- The major selling point with the headset would be better integration of AI with spatial computing.
- It is set to undergo mass production in second half next year.
An M5-powered Vision Pro is probably on the cards as Apple is expected to enter its mass production in the second half of 2025. The upgraded chipset allows Vision Pro headsets to integrate Apple Intelligence with Spatial Computing and that’s something Apple is probably going to use as the main selling point once the headsets are around.
Apple M5 Vision Pro Could Arrive Next Year
The information is coming from Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo via Medium. As a credible source, it won’t take much time to assess the validity of the news. Apparently, an all-new Apple M5-powered Vision Pro is in the pipeline. As the title suggests, it will debut with an Apple M5 silicon which is a major upgrade over the original M2-powered Vision Pro launched earlier this year.
The immense raw power coming from an M5 chipset allows Vision Pro to leverage the capabilities of Apple Intelligence (AI) on the headsets. It would allow better eye tracking, gesture control, and an overall better user experience for spatial computing on the headset.
Kuo reports that the price might not change much since Apple isn’t overhauling the headset design and probably no other hardware changes as well. Apple will upgrade the chipset though and that could attract better battery life and lighter weight allowing users to use the headset across various scenarios as opposed to what the current-gen headset is capable of.
Also, Apple could work out something like OpenAI’s Sora elevating the headset to unimaginable levels. For those who are not familiar, Sora is a text-to-video AI model capable of rendering realistic-looking shots based on user queries and context.
As supply chain is concerned, the M5 Vision Pro is expected to arrive later next year or early 2026. For context, the original Apple Vision Pro was originally announced at WWDC 2023 in June followed by shipping starting February 2, 2024.

If Apple manages to bring a more powered spatial computing experience to M5 Vision Pro, the Cupertino-based giant could break into the mainstream. For now, it remains to be seen if the headset exceeds the AI capabilities of regular smartphones that exist or would come by the time Apple has perfected its launch.
