- Apple is working on a standalone Siri app for iOS 27 expected to roll out at the WWDC 2026.
- The app will bring ease of usage to Siri including starting conversations, uploading files for context, and more.
- One privacy feature that been unavailable for the longest time is making it to the new Siri app - the ability to auto-delete chats.
After two years of baking, it seems Apple is ready to roll out a standalone Siri app on iPhones and iPads. Conceptualized back in 2024, the Cupertino-based giant has been working around the clock to move to a standalone Siri app instead of a pop-up menu uprising after a wakeup command, and the upcoming iOS 27 seems like the best bet, but there’s a lot to discuss right here.
Standalone Siri app in the works
According to Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, Apple will roll out a new and AI-infused Siri app on iPhones and iPads at WWDC 2026. For context, the app was already tipped at WWDC 2024; however, we had to wait for almost two years before getting our hands on the app. The Power On newsletter mentions the app will be released with a ‘beta’ label just as iOS and Apple Intelligence updates are launched.
We are hoping the beta standalone Siri app arrives on iOS 27, releasing at the upcoming WWDC 2026, which gives us just a month to spare. Well, it isn’t just a new app, but rather a lot of new features are coming our way.
Turns out Apple wants to introduce an auto-delete history feature on board this new app. As of now, Siri is available on a wake-up command without an individual app to check out its history and do wonders with it. However, once the app and the auto feature roll out, users will be able to select whether to delete the chats within 30 days or extend it to a year or keep them indefinitely, unless there are other options in the middle.
More power is coming to the Siri app
Apple’s standalone Siri app will bring about cataclysmic changes to how users interact on their iPhones. For instance, the app will have two interfaces—a messages-style or a conversation-style, such as ChatGPT. Additionally, users will be able to talk to Siri, as usual. Apart from that, there will be an option to upload files for further processing, such as deciphering a PDF in another language, and so on.
There will be a beta label attached to the new Siri app. It does give users an idea that some features might not work or may be half-baked, while ensuring Apple can say some features are unfinished. A typical win-win situation for both parties involved.
Apple has partnered with Google’s Gemini to enhance Siri and its responses. The Cupertino-based giant has ensured all the data is routed through a private cloud computer server and not Google’s servers, which is a good thing when it comes to addressing privacy concerns.

In any case, the new standalone Siri app rolls out at the WWDC 2026 happening in June. It will be labeled as a ‘beta’ version on board iOS 27. There’s also an opt-out for Siri beta if users choose not to use it and stick to the traditional Siri for now.
