Here’s what the latest update packs in for you.
Gemini-powered Siri is heading for release in February before unleashing a big upgrade on iOS 27
According to Gurman, an Apple analyst whose reputation precedes him, the new and improved Gemini-powered Siri will arrive as a part of iOS 26.4 coming next month. Here, we could see iOS 26.4 as a beta update slated for the second half of February, followed by a public rollout in March or early April. Likewise, the revamped Siri will be bundled with iOS 26.4, and thus, it will undergo iterations before the official version is announced at the WWDC 2026 to be held in June 2026.
This is when iOS 27 will be officially announced, as with every previous iteration out there. This is where the beta updates for iOS 27 begin, and Google’s Gemini models and AI features will be a big part of it.
The Gemini-powered Siri timeline and features
Apple has been reworking Siri for ages. Last year, we got to know Apple is exploring options to work with the likes of Google and OpenAI to back up its foundation models and power its Siri and other Apple Intelligence features. Just a few days ago, we got a formal announcement citing Apple and Google’s multi-year partnership that brings the cutting-edge Gemini models to Apple.
With the latest update, we are certain that revamped Siri backed by Google Gemini is coming ahead of its time. It will be a part of iOS 26.4 beta, followed by future iterations. At WWDC 2026, Apple will announce iOS 27, which brings users a number of Gemini-powered features, including deeper per-app controls, on-screen awareness, personal context, better understanding of natural language, and better integration throughout Apple’s ecosystem.
The new and improved Siri will be able to act as a powerful AI chatbot, allowing users to generate AI images, analyze files and documents, integrate with email, podcasting, and music apps, and beyond.
iPadOS 27, macOS 27, and watchOS 27 will get their beta releases at the same time and with Gemini-powered AI features on board.
