Google held its Google I/O 2023 event on May 10 unleashing a slew of new products right from the likes of Pixel 7a to Pixel Fold and many more. Google even launched 28 multi-brand stores in India across 27 cities where Pixel users can check in to get Pixel support. With that being said, the newly launched Pixel 7a has joined the Pixel 7 series with Tensor G2 SoC under the hood. Let’s check out more about Google Pixel 7a here.
Google Pixel 7a Launched at Google I/O 2023
Successor to Pixel 6a, the Pixel 7a levels with the flagship cadre Pixel 7 devices while keeping the price tag around 40K in India which is 1/3rd less of what the latest Pixel 7 will cost you.
The Pixel 7a brings onboard a 6.1” OLED panel with a 90Hz refresh rate. It is the same panel as that of the Pixel 7 but trimmed from 6.3” to 6.1”. There’s FHD+ resolution and a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 on top of this punch-hole display.
IP67 for dust and water resistance is intact so that’s something Google hasn’t compromised on. The phone uses a recycled aluminum frame with a plastic back and again, it uses recycled materials throughout.
Tensor G2 from Pixel 7 series has made its presence on the 7a well clubbed with 8GB of LPDDR RAM and 128GB UFS 3.1 storage. It is the sole configuration available and that too similar to what Pixel 7 offers. Will you still buy an expensive Pixel 7 over 7a?
Google has noted Android 13 on 7a while promising security updates for five years that should keep you covered till 2027. Next up, we have 5G support onboard Pixel 7a. It includes both mmWave and sub-6GHz although the former is limited to certain regions. The phone uses one eSIM and one physical nano-SIM setup. Google has embedded a beefy 4,385 mAh battery that should curtail any battery anxiety you might have. Plus, there’s a 18W wired and an 18W wireless charging support as well with the latter being first on a-series Pixel devices.
Pixel 7a uses a dual camera setup at the back. It packs in a 64MP primary Quad Bayer snapper with up to 8x Super Res Zoom. There’s a second 13MP ultrawide snapper with 120° FoV and a Dual Pixel AF. You get an amped-up 13MP selfie shooter with a fixed-focus lens and 95° FoV. The rear setup is able to churn out 5K video resolution up to 60fps while the front maxes at 4K@30fps.
