For a couple of months, there has been news about the Google Pixel 9a launch happening soon. By now, we know it is around mid-March 2025, possibly before (or during) Google I/O 2025. Well, although it is still a few months to go, this hasn’t stopped tipsters from uncovering details, including the latest around its battery capacity along with a hoard of other details.
Google Pixel 9a Battery Capacity Leaked
Cutting to the case, an Android Headlines report on Google Pixel 9a battery specs mentions a capacity of 5,000mAh. For context, Pixel 8a’s battery is at 4,492 mAh which makes Pixel 9a’s around 11.31% larger.
For obvious reasons, it means the Pixel 9a will bring improved battery life akin to the Pixel 9 Pro XL (at 5,060mAh). This allows you to do more stuff on your Pixel without looking for a charging plug now and then.
The charging front looks like 18W of wired and 7.5W wireless charging engaged as usual. Although this is way behind the flagship Pixel 9 series, you are also paying much less so it’s fine, I guess.
Google Pixel 9a Specifications — Something You Should Be On The Lookout For
According to the source, we can paint a picture of what to expect with the Pixel 9a. On top of the leaked Google Pixel 9a renders and design, the phone will bring on-board a 6.3” display with 60-120Hz adaptive refresh rate. It is 0.2” bigger than the Pixel 8a that had a 6.1” display on-board. It actually makes Pixel 9a similar to Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro bridging the gap between flagship and cost-friendly A-series of Pixel phones.
Moving on, the phone will retain the Tensor G4 from the Pixel 9 series that shall bring improved performance (and again, that’s a given). We will see 8GB RAM and 128/256GB storage variants with the Pixel 9a. Also, there’s Android 15 out-of-the-box handling all your tasks with a bucket-load of features co-powered by Gemini AI.
When it comes to cameras, Pixel phones have already been on top irrespective of their flagship or budget titles. Pixel 9a is speculated to bring a 48MP sensor on-board along with a 13MP ultrawide cam with a seemingly larger point of view (PoV). The specifics are yet to be determined.

The phone is said to bring an IP68 rating against water and dust akin to the Pixel 9 series. This is a jump from Pixel 8a’s IP67 rating protecting the device submerged in water up to 1.5m in depth and up to 30 minutes.
The Google Pixel 9a launch is all set for mid-March next year, before Google I/O 2025 commences a few weeks later.
