Made by Google Event 2024 wrapped up successfully unleashing a ton of products including the Google Pixel Watch 3. Launched in two sizes and two versions, the Pixel Watch 3 does bring a few upgrades including a brighter and better display, smaller bezels, improved fitness training tools, and better integration with the Google ecosystem plus UWB support.
Here’s everything you need to know about the latest launch and why you should consider buying or upgrading if you are into smartwatches.
Google Pixel Watch 3 Launched Inching Closer to Perfection
The Pixel Watch 3 brings a Google Actua OLED panel with 320ppi and AOD. The search engine giant upgraded its brightness quotient from 1,000 (predecessor) to 2,000 nits on the newer version.
There’s also double the refresh rate of 60Hz that can go as low as 1Hz saving more power while giving optimum performance when required. The previous Pixel Watch 2 had a 30Hz refresh rate so that is a major upgrade.
We have Gorilla Glass 5 on-board protecting the critical display while IP68 prevents any damage due to dust and water up to 5ATM. Note that we don’t recommend taking the watch for diving, although it is okay for swimming.
Pixel Watch 3 comes paired with Fitbit which brings health and fitness tracking as usual. There’s blood-oxygen tracking, heart rate monitoring, step counting, and so on.
Of course, AI is a big thing on Watch 3 as well as there’s an AI-powered coach giving you daily recommendations as and when you need ‘em. The Advanced motion tracking feature keeps an eye on your form and how to improve it further.
Under the hood, we have a Qualcomm Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 SoC. It remains a question why Google thought it would be good to have the same chip as the Pixel Watch 2. In any case, the processor is still worth it as it can manage multiple processes with ease, be it health monitoring and animations, etc.
On the software front, we have the finest Wear OS 5 with cross-device connectivity. You can pair it with a Nest Camera to view its live feed. A feature called ‘Morning Brief’ gives you a summary of health and fitness metrics. Also, AI plays a vital role in improving your experience on the Pixel Watch 3 and thus, you will get insights, recommendations, and more.
Pixel Watch 3 launched in two case sizes i.e, 41mm and 45mm and the batteries worry as well i.e, 306mAh and 420mAh. If you are someone like me who wants better battery support, go for the 45mm version which is approx $50 expensive but surely worth it as you no longer have to plug in the charger.
Google has reportedly enhanced charging by 20% compared to Pixel Watch 2. It would take ~60 minutes for 41mm and ~80 minutes for 45mm to charge itself.
