Towards the end of the Honor Robot Phone keynote, Honor showcased the upcoming Magic9 series. Set to launch on September 28, the teaser confirms a partnership with ARRI for photography on-board the series, arriving a month before its predecessor launched last year.
Honor Magic9 series teased with ARRI collaboration
The Honor Magic9 series teaser doesn’t mention if it’s the Magic9 or the Magic9 Pro in the glimpse; however, it does show an off-center (towards the left) circular camera bump with a knurling pattern around the edges, much like the Xiaomi 17 Ultra Leica Edition. We are not certain if this pattern allows users to rotate to access camera controls or if it’s just a cosmetic change.
Reports suggest the Honor Magic9 series will bring a 200MP primary 1/1.4” sensor with OIS, plus a 200MP periscope lens with 3.7x optical zoom from the Magic8 Pro.
One of the major pieces of leaked information on the teaser (as seen) is the ARRI partnership that continues with the Magic9 series as well. For the unversed, ARRI is a German-based professional cinema camera specialist working towards overhauling mobile photography right from shooting to pre-production to color grading, etc. This will potentially make cameras on-board the Magic9 series a major USP apart from the Honor Robot Phone that has the same collaboration.
As per the best of our knowledge, the Honor Magic9 series is available for pre-orders in China, as mentioned by Li Jian, Honor’s CEO, through Honor Mall and major online retailers in the home country. It remains to be seen if the phone actually comes out of China, so take it with a pinch of salt at the moment.
With the Honor Magic9 series launch slated to happen on September 28, it also means the phone will see massive competition from rivals such as the OnePlus 16, the Xiaomi 18 series, and so on. Apple launches the iPhone 18 Pro series in the first week of September, and that could be a major competitor as well.
