Call it good news or ‘Legendary’ in Barney Stinson’s connotation, the latest iOS 18 now allows you to change iPhone app colors as well as themes. Announced at the WWDC 2024 earlier on Monday, the feature that won Tesla’s Elon Musk’s comment ‘Um OK’ (at least on memes).
Okay, I get it, Android smartphones have had these features for ages, but they were on iPhones, right? Talking about iOS 18 on iPhones, now you can customize the app colors without trying to find a workaround or eventually jail breaking the device. There’s also a feature to change themes on your iPhone now. The question is, how? Well, you have come to the right page, here’s how.

How to Change iPhone App Colors and Themes with iOS 18?
Let’s say you have an iPhone 15 running on iOS 18 (although iOS 18 is compatible with iPhone XS so you are pretty much covered here), here’s how you can customize your app colors and themes on-board.
- Check if your iPhone is running on iOS 18 Beta. If not, it’s high time to get it for your iPhone as it is now available.
- On the home screen, press and hold anywhere with an empty area (where there are no widgets or icons).
- Tap ‘Edit’ that appears in the top-left corner.
- Proceed by hitting ‘Customize’.
- Next, you can choose between ‘Tinted’, ‘Dark’, ‘Light’, or ‘Automatic’ based on your preference.
- Finally, select from small or large app icons, again, it’s your preference. The default is small.
When you select tinted, you’ll see all the app icons will change accordingly. Of course, this feature will have limitations (as of now) but it works on both first-party and third-party apps. You can also tweak the colors of app icons using VIBGYOR and intensity sliders on-screen in this mode.
Note: In the case of large app icons, the app title vanishes. If you prefer app titles, you will have to go through with a small size as it retains the titles.
