Xiaomi Mi A1 Android Oreo Beta Update Rolls Out

Xiaomi launched their first ever Android One device in India in the month of September. The device was named Mi A1 and it was priced at around Rs. 13,999. Mi A1 was launched with Android Nougat 7.1. 2 out of the box. During the launch event, the company promised to push a Android Oreo 8.0 update to the device by the end of 2017. And here is the Mi A1 Android Oreo beta update!

Xiaomi have started rolling out Android Oreo update to its beta testers. The update is available to a part of the beta testers. The update consists of 1.1 GB of files and also packs in an updated security patch until December. The Mi A1 Android Oreo update brings a lot of new and exciting features, one of them is the picture-in-picture (PIP) mode which helps the user to watch and listen to the YouTube videos outside of the app. Other features such as Audio API for Pro Audio, Background Limits, Snoozing Individual notification, adaptive icons, keyboard navigation, etc. are also available.

 

 

 

To enter the Mi A1 Android Oreo beta tester community the user has to fill in an application. The application states that all Mi A1 users are eligible for the update and only devices IMEI number is to be provided for the application. The IMEI number won’t be revealed publicly and the last day to fill in the form is 9:30 PM IST on December 11, 2017.

There are some terms to join the beta program, a user should have knowledge about ROMs and should have interest in joining the program and testing out the features. The user must be active on MIUI Global Forum and is willing to discuss things with other group members. The selected testers should provide the bug reports on time and answer queries on the forum.

The Xiaomi Mi A1 runs on Android 7.1.2 Nougat with nothing running over the top as heavy as the MIUI. It sports a 5.5-inch Full HD display with 1080×1920 resolution. Under the hood, its powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipset along with 4GB of RAM and 64GB storage which is expandable via microSD card.

The Mi A1 sports a dual camera at the rear with a 12MP wide angle and a 12MP telephoto sensor along with a 5MP sensor on the front with some features like Portrait Mode, HDR, Beautify and etc. The device packs in a decent sized 3080mAh battery. The device is available in Black, Rose Gold and Gold colour variants on Flipkart. The Mi A1 recently got a permanent price cut of Rs. 1,000 and hence now it retails for Rs. 13,999.

The update contains some bugs since its not a stable one. The company states that it’ll be rolling out the stable Android Oreo 8.0 update within the following weeks, meanwhile, you can apply for the beta tester program.
