Shortly after Huawei launched Huawei P30 series in the first half of 2019, the United States underwent a Huawei Ban thereby prohibiting Google (a U.S. based company) to do business with Huawei. Since then, all the Huawei and Honor smartphones released have arrived with Android OSes but without Google Mobile Services (GMS) which includes Google Play Store and a whole suite of Google apps. But hey, there’s a bit of information that might bring cheer to your face.
Picked up by Huawei Central from Huawei’s official German website, it states of an upcoming promotion offer for Huawei P30 series listing Huawei P30 Pro New Edition as one of the phones. Since we don’t have P30 Pro New Edition yet but just P30 Pro (released last year), it is highly likely that Huawei is gearing up for a new launch with GMS included.
Huawei technically found a way to circumvent the ongoing Huawei Ban. Since Huawei P30 series supports GMS, it’s new editions will too support it. This is why we had Huawei P30 Lite New Edition with improved storage released earlier this year. The evidence is quite reliable that there’s a P30 Pro New Edition in the making too.
What’s even more interesting is the fact that the terms of promotion lists Huawei P30 Pro New Edition with a promo date from May 15th to June 4th. This could mean the phone could arrive in a little over a week although there’s no official word from the Chinese manufacturer as of now. Also, it is likely that the P30 Pro New Edition will be limited to a few countries if at all its releases.
As said, the reason behind why P30 Pro New Edition is because the P30 series already supports GMS. It makes sense if Huawei wants to release a phone with GMS without compromising over the ongoing Huawei Ban. The question is, how long can Huawei resurrect a phone released in 1H 2019 since the hardware will eventually get outdated. The P30 series is already replaced by the improved P40 series and Mate 30 series. Check out this space to stay updated on whether Huawei P30 Pro New Edition arrives.
