The OnePlus 16 launch date is official. Li Jie Louis, OnePlus China President, confirmed that the OP16 will be unveiled on October 12, i.e., two weeks from today. The announcement was made at the 2026 OnePlus Gaming Conference held in China, where the smartphone giant also introduced major gaming technologies it has developed for the flagship phone.
OnePlus 16 launch confirmed with new gaming system
We have been waiting for the OnePlus 16 for quite a while, and with just two weeks to go, we can’t be more excited.
Li Jie Louis of OnePlus China confirmed the launch of the flagship phone, along with its new gaming system, which brings an 185Hz refresh rate, while the phone ensures 165Hz system-wide.
According to reports, the OnePlus 16 will bring on board a Fengchi Gaming Kernel on-board that uses resources, including Snapdragon SoC, to allocate resources and maintain peak frame rates over a longer duration.
The company mentions a three-chip esports system that has dedicated chips for networking to reduce latency, touch processing to improve responsiveness, and display processing that visuals are clearer when the display is buzzing at 185Hz. The Chinese tech giant has listed a few titles to bring its 185fps mode, including Naruto Mobile, Nizhan: Future, Arena Breakout, and Peace Elite, to name a few. More titles are being added; however, the peak refresh rate depends on game support, thermals, and how users operate their phones.
OnePlus has been working for a while to bring its flagship phones aligned with gaming genes. Last year, it brought the refresh rate from 120Hz to 165Hz for gaming. This year, we are seeing yet another improvement with 185Hz as the native gaming refresh rate, plus a 165Hz rate system-wide, to be exact.

To sum it up ahead of launch, OnePlus 16 brings a 2K 165Hz 6.8” BOE X4 display, a Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 SoC under the hood, plus 16GB RAM and 1TB of storage. The phone has a 9,000mAh battery paired alongside 100W wired and 50W wireless tech.
There’s a 200MP primary snapper at the back with a 50MP periscope telephoto at 3x optical and 6x lossless zoom, a 50MP ultrawide snapper, plus a 50MP selfie camera at the front.
