OnePlus is literally pulling all the horses for its upcoming OnePlus 6T launch exclusively with T-Mobile in the United States and as an unlocked device across the globe. After confirming its resemblance to Oppo R17 with water drop notch display, the Chinese smartphone maker has officially confirmed the presence of under-display fingerprint sensor. Earlier, it was thought that this piece of tech would make the phone somewhat expensive which of course will not fall in line with their usual model of pricing. It seems like the brand is planning to integrate this sensor without making a huge hole in your pocket.

OnePlus officially confirmed that it will mount an In-screen or In-display fingerprint scanner beneath the screen and has dubbed the feature as Screen Unlock. Adding such a feature would allow OnePlus to chop off a piece of the side bezels that indeed aren’t that massive when you see a OnePlus 6. But, the higher screen-to-body ratio is always appreciated.

According to OnePlus, a Chinese smartphone manufacturer, it was planning to unveil the in-display fingerprint scanner with OnePlus 5T, however, the technology wasn’t mature enough to be used back then. Since OnePlus includes features that are tested and accepted well by the users, it had to wait for OnePlus 6T to include the in-display fingerprint scanner that would allow users to have a great unlocking experience similar to the face unlock on OnePlus 6.

OnePlus confirms an In-display fingerprint scanner with upcoming OnePlus 6T priced at $550

An optical image sensor is affixed beneath the display and when a user touches on the sensor area, an array turns on the light towards the finger and the optical sensor captures, registers, and execute the data along with an AI processor whether to unlock the phone or not based on who’s trying to access the phone. Embedding the feature on OnePlus 6T will actually make it 0.45mm thicker than OnePlus 6. On top of that, the feature has made a lot of advancements meaning a higher level of accuracy. In fact, more than 100 million smartphones will have an in-display fingerprint scanner by 2019 similar to how millions of devices have a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner.

About the OnePlus 6T, it will have a massive 6+ inches of screen with water drop shaped notch and an edge-to-edge display. It is expected to have a triple-camera setup at the back as opposed to the dual-camera setup in its OnePlus 6 launched in May 2018. The OnePlus 6T is expected to fetch a price tag of $550 price but we are susceptible that OnePlus could manage to include these many features in a $550 price range. As a rumor, OnePlus 6T could launch on October 17, however, there is no official input on its release date available yet.
