After facing too many issues with the Android 11-powered OxygenOS 11 update, OnePlus is doing something revolutionary. OnePlus 8T is now getting it’s first Open Beta build and both global and Indian variants of the model are now getting the update.
Apparently, Open Beta build is meant for OnePlus to test out new features. Here, the beta testers will get new features of course, with a bunch of bugs and issues to be ironed out. This helps OnePlus to roll out the features on its stable version after fixing all the loopholes and issues. For the uninitiated, the OnePlus 8T’s first Open Beta build is undoubtedly less stable than the official update as it is meant to test out beta features.
OnePlus posted the information about the incoming Open Beta 1 giving out details about what it brings on-board. The new update optimizes UI display of the status bar, animations for cloud and sunny days on the weather app, optimized layout for cloud service in the gallery section as well as optimized stability of frame rate while users are playing games that’ll improve user experience and so on. The update also brings February 2021 security patch on-board.
Users are required to download the firmware package from the links below to upgrade. Note that they can still retract to the stable Android 11-based OxygenOS 11 version (MP version) if they aren’t satisfied with the instability that the Open Beta version offers.
Here’s how you can upgrade from MP to OBT version
#1: You need to download the ROM upgrade zip package for your respective Indian or Global variant of the OnePlus 8T.
#2: Next up, copy the download package to the internal storage.
#3: Go towards Settings >> System >> System Updates >> Click on top-right icon >> select Local Upgrade.
#4: Select the downloaded package from the storage and then, tap on Upgrade >> System Upgrade completed to 100 percent.
#5: Restart the phone and it is done.
The procedure to retract to the MP version from OBT is the same although you would need these stable OxygenOS 11 ROM packages to get it done.
