Earlier, there was a rumor that Oppo will launch the third-generation of Reno devices next month although that seemed inappropriate since Oppo launched the Reno 2 series only a few months ago. With that being said, Oppo confirmed that there is an Oppo Reno 3 series launch next month at the conference to launch Oppo’s custom-made ColorOS 7.

According to the Chinese smartphone giant, the Oppo Reno 3 series will also introduce San Diego-based Qualcomm’s first-ever dual-mode 5G modem that works with both standalone access (SA) and non-standalone access (NSA) of 5G networks.

Apart from that, Oppo will also have settings where users can manually enable 5G from 4G although both the SIM cards in its Dual SIM will be 5G compatible. The particular settings will have intelligent switching feature between 5G and 4G networks based on the strength and other factors involved in intercepting networks.

Oppo promises to bridge IoT devices with emerging mobile terminals towards its 5G technology. The Chinese smartphone maker was also from the first batch of brands to unveil 5G smartphones and already has a 5G smartphone portfolio where Reno 3 series will add onto the same.

Similar to how Xiaomi confirmed that smartphones over 2,000 yuan will have 5G, Oppo has confirmed that it will also integrate 5G with products with a price of over 3,000 yuan as it said at the Guangzhou Tianyi Intelligent Ecological Expo this September.

Oppo isn’t the only contender in the 5G race as Huawei, Honor, Vivo, Samsung, Xiaomi, and a few other brands already have 5G smartphones with more adding this December.

Apart from that, Apple is also working on 5G iPhone for 2020 release and has already forecasted 100mn units for 2020 where the Pro models will get mmWave 5G while the affordable iPhone 12 will have 5G with mmWave that should pave the way for a greater 5G coverage. Oppo has also recorded a rise in the 5G adoption rate by 20% by next year as per the analytical agency Canalys.

Oppo Reno 3 is speculated to have a 6.5-inch HD AMOLED panel with a 32MP front and 60+8+13+2MP rear quad-camera setup. It will also boost a 4,500 mAh battery. The device is likely to get Snapdragon 730G although that seems redundant since Oppo Reno 2 sports the same processor which means we can see an upside to it.

Other details include an internal memory of 128GB for the base model with up to 256GB of max storage with 8GB of RAM. We don’t know much about the device yet. Stay tuned on True-Tech to keep an eye on the same.
