  • Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 uses an advanced 4nm process, giving it better performance and greater power efficiency.
  • Offers up to 36% faster CPU and 59% faster GPU performance over the Snapdragon 6s Gen 3.
  • Supports 200 MP photo capture, 2K HDR video, and 144Hz FHD+ display capabilities.

Qualcomm has officially unveiled the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 Mobile Platform (SM6435), marking a major upgrade in its mid-range chipset lineup. Built on an advanced 4nm process, it delivers up to 36% faster CPU and 59% better GPU performance compared to its predecessor.

The Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 debuts as the first in the 6s series to adopt a 4nm process node, manufactured by TSMC. Qualcomm says this advancement results in a 36% jump in CPU performance and a 59% boost in GPU efficiency over the previous generation.

Performance and architecture

The Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 is equipped with an octa-core CPU setup, including four Arm Cortex-A720 performance cores running at up to 2.4 GHz and four Cortex-A520 efficiency cores at 1.8 GHz. This architecture balance between performance and power efficiency, enabling smoother multitasking and more responsive performance in demanding scenarios like gaming, media editing, and app switching.

The built-in Qualcomm Adreno GPU works with Vulkan 1.3, OpenGL ES 3.2, and OpenCL 2.0 FP, making it ready for today’s gaming and graphics tasks. The chip also adds Snapdragon Elite Gaming features like Variable Rate Shading and Game Quick Touch, technologies that were once only found in top-tier Snapdragon chips.

Camera and multimedia capabilities

Qualcomm is boosting imaging performance with its Spectra Image Signal Processor (ISP), which supports up to 200MP photo capture and 2K HDR video. The dual 12-bit ISPs also enable advanced features like Multi-Frame Noise Reduction, HDR video, and 720p slow-motion recording at up to 240 FPS.

The platform supports dual 16 MP cameras or a single 32 MP camera with Zero Shutter Lag (ZSL), allowing seamless photo capture even in dynamic lighting conditions.

Connectivity and audio

The Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 comes with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 5G Modem-RF System, supporting both 5G mmWave and sub-6 GHz bands with download speeds up to 2.9 Gbps. For wireless connectivity, it features Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4, and dual Bluetooth antennas for stable connections across the 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz bands.

Audio upgrades on the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 come via Qualcomm Aqstic technologies, which include a high-end codec and smart speaker amplifier. These enhancements enable Snapdragon Sound™ with THD+N playback at -108 dB for clearer audio and reduced distortion for a richer listening experience.

Display, memory, and charging

For smooth visuals, the chipset supports FHD+ displays with refresh rates up to 144Hz for smooth scrolling and gaming experiences. It works with LPDDR5x memory (up to 3200 MHz) and LPDDR4x (up to 2100 MHz), and includes UFS 3.1 storage for quicker data access and app loading.

The platform also includes Qualcomm Quick Charge 4+ for faster charging and USB-C 3.1 support for wide compatibility with modern accessories and devices.

Advanced location capabilities

For navigation, the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 supports triple-frequency GNSS (L1/L5/L2) and works with systems like GPS, Glonass, BeiDou, Galileo, QZSS, and NavIC. Qualcomm says its sensor-assisted positioning improves accuracy in cities, giving “sidewalk-level” precision for walkers and “lane-level” accuracy for drivers.
