The Reliance JioPhone has created a lot of hype in its initial days and its availability has since been a problem for the company as well as the customers. People who wished to get their hands on the phone had to wait for several days to even get a registration message and another set of weeks to get it confirmed and delivered to their doorsteps.
Reliance Jio on Saturday shook hands with the Indian mobile wallet company Mobikwik to sell the JioPhone on its platform. Looks like you can get the JioPhone now without any hassle. The JioPhone is not only the cheapest 4G VoLTE handset in India but also the most demanded feature phone ever. Reliance has sold millions of units of the JioPhone already and Mobikwik has become the first ever wallet to sell the phone.
The buying procedure is as simple as online shopping which you usually follow. The buyer needs to install the Mobikwik app and click the JioPhone banner which will be displayed on the homepage. Then head over to the space where you can insert your mobile number and pin code and then tap on Continue. The booking amount for the phone is Rs. 1,500 and you need to hit on Continue in order to move over to the payments page. Choose your desired payment mode and you’re done. Once you’ve successfully made the payment you shall receive a mail/SMS about the same along with the details of the store where you can collect the device.
Reliance JioPhone is a feature phone which has support for 4G internet and VoLTE. The phone sports a 2.4-inch QWGVA screen with 320 x 240 pixels and it runs on KAI OS coupled with 1.2 GHz dual-core processor and 512 MB RAM. The device does have a 2-megapixel rear camera and also a 0.3 MP front-facing camera. It has 4 GB of inbuilt storage and can be expanded up to 128 GB with the help of a microSD.

The company has sold over 15 million units within three months of its launch and with new tariff plans coming up for JioPhone users, it’s going to be a big queue for the phone. The new plans for the JioPhone users offers 1 GB of 4G data with unlimited free calls at just Rs. 49 a month. There have been some rumours about Jio wherein they have partnered with MediaTek in order to bring a cheap 4G smartphone based on the Android Oreo (Go Edition) in the Indian market, we’ll get to know more about that later on.
