In March 2017, we saw the South Korean giant Samsung launch Galaxy Xcover 4 quietly without creating much of a noise. Well, Samsung seems to be working on its successor Galaxy Xcover 5 likely to be introduced in June which is barely a week ago from today.

Well, thanks to an FCC listing, we do know that a smartphone bearing model number SM-G398FN/DS has appeared on the listing that we believe is of Xcover 5 according to the report by GSMArena. Furthermore, the details show that it supports 10.78 Wh battery at 3.85 Volts which is loosely 2,800 mAh battery that makes it the same as the Xcover 4’s 2,800 mAh battery.

Samsung’ Galaxy Xcover series goes through strenuous tests before breaking it as a product on sale. The Galaxy Xcover 4 was IP68 water resistant and thanks to its MIL-STD 810G, it has already gone through U.S. military standards passing the various tests subjecting the phone to solar radiation, extreme temperature, vibrations, and others. The predecessor was also protected against salt water and humidity which is no doubt the Xcover 5 will support too.

Although FCC listing doesn’t specify any specifications, a Geekbench benchmarking listing for a Samsung smartphone bearing SM-G398FB that we speculate to be for Xcover 5 states that it supports an octa-core Exynos 7885 processor with a base frequency of 1.59 GHz while it also has 3GB RAM. As per the scores are concerned, alleged Samsung Galaxy Xcover 5 hits a score of 1,217 points on single-core and 4,065 points on a multi-core test. Keeping the battery capacity in mind, it appears as if Galaxy Xcover 5 will have a similar form factor to Xcover 4 which is a 4.99-inch LCD display although it could be bumped up a bit or use IPS LCD or AMOLED display as well. The device runs on the latest Android Pie 9.0 OS.

Finally, we don’t know about the pricing by the Samsung Galaxy Xcover 4 was priced at EUR 259 in the European markets when it was launched in March 2017 so we suspect the price of upcoming Galaxy Xcover 5 to be between EUR 250 to 300 and it is expected to go official on June 4, 2019.
