  • Apparently, the giant is finalizing specs and control interfaces for its XR Glasses bearing project name HAEAN.
  • Apple Vision Pro-like Project Moohan XR headset will join the wagon although the specs and dates of both the products remain elusive.

Samsung XR glasses have been reportedly in the works for a while now. However, rumors have it we will finally get our hands on the anticipated glasses possibly this year as Samsung goes above and beyond exploring the extended reality (XR) space with various form factors in the development.

Samsung XR Glasses in the Finalization Phase

As per South Korean news outlet ETNews, Samsung Electronics is working on unleashing the Kraken with smart glasses bearing the project name “HAEAN”. Apparently, the smart glasses have reached the finalizing stage where Samsung has to confirm certain functions and specifications before minting their units of XR glasses.

For the unversed, Samsung is working on project “HAEAN” which is a pair of XR Smart Glasses as well as a VR headset dubbed project “Moohan” akin to Apple Vision Pro. Both the headsets are currently in the works and may possibly arrive together later this year as per the latest update.

Innovative Controls and Potential Use Cases

In terms of Samsung XR Glasses specifically, the South Korean giant is working on a combination of cameras and sensors for the intuitive control of its glasses. At present, we have glasses with limited physical buttons and there are the ones with touch-sensitive surfaces. In fact, we have one smart glass with the combination of both the control types plus a ring that users can use for better control.

Samsung’s move could put its smart glasses on the top, thanks to the intuitive button-less control interface. This will be a lightweight variant of the full-fledged Project Moohan headset and will bring a ton of use cases. For instance, we could see factory workers pulling up repair manuals on their Samsung XR Glasses right away.

Healthcare providers will be able to study patients’ history, and surgical procedures and educate patients on their condition and beyond without needing to rely on heaps of papers.

Samsung’s XR Ambitions

The possibilities are endless and goes on to show just how big the XR space will become in the near future. Samsung has already garnered more than 10,400 patents across XR technologies giving it a much better outlook, although there are some other big names in the business as well such as Meta, Apple, and Ray Ban, to name a few.
