Vivo Apex 2020 Concept Phone is finally here. It has been a hype from a couple of months. The company has been teasing it for a long time. It has finally been unveiled on Friday after many teasers. The most highlighted feature of this concept phone from Vivo is its 120-degree curved edgeless display with no physical buttons, no notch or hole-punch or even a pop-up selfie camera setup, and amped up optical image stabilization.
Vivo Apex 2020 Concept Phone packs with a lot of quite and different feature which makes it unique from other brands. One of its features includes the world’s first under-display selfie camera which was supposed to be in Oppo Find X2 but Vivo showed and showcased it first. And the continuous optical zoom up to 5x to 7.5x is also one of the highlighted points of the smartphone.
Vivo Apex 2020 Concept Phone Specifications and Features
Vivo announced Apex 2020 Concept phone on Friday and it’s most prominent visual feature is a 6.45-inch full-view edgeless display with 120-degree curved edges, resulting in an ultra-narrow bezel and a futuristic aesthetic. This is the main focus point of the smartphone. Other than that it has mostly everything which we can expect from a flagship smartphone.
Vivo becomes the first brand to implement a 16 MP selfie camera right under the display since Oppo debuted it earlier but never implemented it in their smartphones. The device also doesn’t have any physical buttons, no notch, no punched hole or pop camera setup. As we already have seen the “no physical button” concept in Xiaomi’s Mi Mix Alpha and this is basically identical to that only.
Vivo has achieved a huge leap in image stabilization by way of a “gimbal-like structure” on the 48-megapixel primary camera. And as the company says, the design is inspired by chameleons’ eyeballs rotate to track subjects and claiming a 200% better performance over traditional OIS systems.
The phone has a 16-MP front camera behind the screen, and it is equipped with a 4-in-1 super-pixel photosensitive chip to enable good quality photos. Vivo says it’s managed to increase the light transmittance of that portion of the screen by six times. And also Vivo is using their continuous optical zoom which basically means the actual optical zoom unlike the fixed prime lenses and software processed zoom in the Galaxy S20 Ultra. Galaxy S20 Ultra is supposed to be the zoomiest phones on the market right now but they too rely on digital zoom with a couple more optical steps along the way.
Other than the display and camera, Vivo also highlighted the 60-watt fast charging. According to the company, it can charge a 2,000mAh battery in 20 minutes, which impressively very fast for wireless and even for wired charging. The company hasn’t listed the Apex 2020’s actual battery capacity but we can expect a good and relative amount of capacity.
As Vivo Apex 2020 is a 5G device which means it has X55 modem working over the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC. And we can expect that it will be paired with at least 12 GB of DDR5 RAM and at least 256 GB of onboard storage.
It will be available two colors, black and white and will run on Android 10.
