vivo is officially teasing the upcoming vivo S50 Pro mini, the latest addition phone in its S-series in China. It follows the vivo S30 Pro mini, which launched in May. Now, early details from the company suggest the compact phone will offer a big performance boost, which make it a clear upgrade for the series.
Compact “Battle Angel” powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 5
According to vivo executive Han Boxio, the vivo S50 Pro mini is nicknamed “Battle Angel” inside the company, a nod to its compact size and powerful specs. vivo also confirmed it will use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 SoC, putting it among the top-performing small phones.
The company also revealed that the device has achieved 3 million points on the AnTuTu benchmark, surpassing previous mid-range flagship scores by more than one million points. That makes it one of the most powerful compact Android phones in its class.
vivo also confirmed the S50 Pro mini will use LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage. These upgrades mean quicker app launches, smoother multitasking, and better overall performance.
Upgraded 3D ultrasonic fingerprint sensor
A key highlight is the second-gen 3D ultrasonic fingerprint sensor. vivo says it unlocks the phone instantly, even with wet fingers, which makes it more convenient and secure to use.
Importantly, this upgraded sensor is expected to be standard across the full vivo S50 series, making vivo the first brand to bring this tech to the entire price range, not just a single high-end model.
Possible 90W fast charging spotted in certification
A vivo device with model number V2528A was recently spotted in China’s 3C certification database, showing support for 90W fast charging. vivo hasn’t confirmed the model name yet, but industry watchers say it’s likely part of the S50 series, based on regulatory listings.
Expected early December launch in China
vivo is expected to announce the S50 series in early December, according to details shared through official teasers and regulatory filings. The company is expected to reveal the final launch date soon, along with complete specifications and pricing information.
