vivo has officially confirmed the vivo S50 series launch date for December 15. The new lineup includes two models, the vivo S50 and the vivo S50 Pro mini, both set to debut in China. The company has already begun sharing detailed specifications ahead of the launch. Naturally, compared to its predecessor, the S50 series will come with upgraded features. As of now, the company has confirmed the following details. Let’s take a look at what vivo has in store for its consumers.
Performance and storage
According to vivo, the vivo S50 Pro mini will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset. The company reported that the device has achieved 3 million points on AnTuTu benchmarks, which is over 1 million points ahead of older mid-range flagship models. It will also support LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage, which ensures faster app performance and improved multitasking.
Meanwhile, the standard vivo S50 is expected to use the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 processor, a clear upgrade over the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 in the earlier vivo S30.
Display and biometric
Both models in the lineup will feature high-refresh-rate OLED displays, with the vivo S50 Pro mini sporting a 6.31-inch 120Hz panel and the vivo S50 equipped with a slightly larger 6.59-inch 120Hz screen. These upgrades promise smoother visuals and enhanced viewing experiences for gaming, streaming, and social media.
For security, both models will introduce a second-generation 3D ultrasonic fingerprint sensor. vivo notes that this marks the first time the technology will come as standard throughout the entire product lineup in this price segment.
Camera capabilities
vivo states that the entire S50 series is equipped with a Sony IMX882 sensor (1/1.95″) paired with a periscope telephoto lens, a notable addition for photography performance in the mid-range category.
The vivo S50 Pro mini includes a VCS ultra-sensitive bionic large-sensor main camera, designed to improve low-light imaging. On the front, users will find a 50MP anti-distortion selfie camera, supported by a full-focal-length zoom flash similar to vivo’s premium devices.
Design and color options
The vivo S50 series also introduces a refined design language, with the S50 Pro mini featuring a horizontal rear camera module while the standard S50 adopts a rectangular lens layout. Both models are built with an aerospace-grade aluminum frame and utilize a new satin lithography finish, offering improved durability and a premium in-hand feel.
The vivo S50 will be available in Space Gray, Inspiration Purple, Blue, and White, while the S50 Pro mini in Space Gray, Inspiration Purple, and White.
