Xiaomi has officially launched the Xiaomi 17 and Xiaomi 17 Ultra in India, just days after unveiling the devices globally at MWC 2026. With this launch, the company expands its premium smartphone lineup in the country, introducing flagship-grade performance, upgraded Leica-backed camera systems, and large batteries with fast charging support. Both smartphones will go on sale starting March 13, along with limited-period launch offers.
Xiaomi 17 brings the flagship experience at comparatively lower price
Display and design
The Xiaomi 17 features a 6.3-inch 1.5K (2656 × 1220 pixels) M10 12-bit OLED LTPO display with a 20:9 aspect ratio. The screen supports an adaptive refresh rate ranging from 1Hz to 120Hz, which helps deliver smooth scrolling while conserving battery life when needed.
Xiaomi states that the panel can reach up to 3500 nits of peak brightness and supports HDR10+ and Dolby Vision for enhanced viewing. The device features ultra-narrow 1.18mm uniform bezels and a minimum contrast ratio of 5,000,000:1. It also supports 1920Hz PWM dimming and DC dimming and is protected by Xiaomi Shield Glass.
The phone measures 151.1 × 71.8 × 8.06mm and weighs 191 grams. It carries an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance.
Performance and software
The Xiaomi 17 is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 3nm mobile platform paired with an Adreno 840 GPU. It comes with 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and offers 256GB or 512GB of UFS 4.1 storage. The smartphone runs Android 16 with Xiaomi HyperOS 3 on top.
To maintain stable performance during demanding tasks such as gaming or high-resolution video recording, Xiaomi has equipped the device with its 3D IceLoop VC cooling system.
Leica camera system
Photography is a major focus of the Xiaomi 17. The smartphone features a triple rear camera setup developed in collaboration with Leica. The system includes a 50MP primary camera with a 1/1.31-inch Light Fusion 950 sensor and f/1.67 aperture, a 50MP ultra-wide camera with a 102-degree field of view, and a 50MP 2.6x telephoto camera with optical image stabilization. All three cameras use Leica Summilux lenses and are supported by Xiaomi’s AISP 2.0 computational photography platform. The device supports 8K video recording.
On the front, Xiaomi has upgraded the selfie camera to 50MP with support for 4K video recording at 60 frames per second.

The Xiaomi 17 houses a 6330mAh battery with support for 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging through Xiaomi Surge technology. It also supports PPS charging, magnetic charging, and 22.5W wired and wireless reverse charging. The phone features an in-display ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, USB Type-C audio with Hi-Res support, and a four-microphone array.
Connectivity options include 5G SA/NSA, dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, NavIC, and USB Type-C 3.2 Gen 1.

In India, the Xiaomi 17 is available in Black, Ice Blue, and Venture Green. The 12GB + 256GB variant is priced at ₹89,999, while the 12GB + 512GB model costs ₹99,999. As part of the early bird sale from March 13 to March 17, customers can purchase the 512GB variant at the price of the 256GB version. For the first time in the Ultra lineup, Xiaomi has adopted a flat display design. The device measures 8.29mm in thickness, making it the thinnest Ultra model released by the company so far. It features a micro-curved aluminum alloy frame, a repositioned camera module for improved ergonomics, dual stereo speakers with AI noise reduction, and IP68 dust and water resistance.
Leica-powered advanced camera hardware
The Xiaomi 17 Ultra features a triple-camera system designed to cover a wide focal range. It includes a 14mm ultra-wide lens, a 23mm Leica 1-inch Ultra Dynamic main camera built on the Light Fusion 1050L sensor with LOFIC HDR technology, and a 200MP Leica optical zoom telephoto camera covering a 75mm to 100mm equivalent range.
Xiaomi states that the 1-inch sensor delivers 6.3 times greater full well capacity compared to the previous generation, improving highlight control and shadow detail in high-contrast conditions. The 200MP telephoto camera uses a 1/1.4-inch sensor and carries Leica APO certification to reduce chromatic aberration. According to the company, the system supports native 200MP output across its optical zoom range without digital cropping.
