Google has officially released a dedicated Gemini app for Windows. Earlier this year, the company made its AI app available for macOS. With the new desktop app, Google is offering users another option to access Gemini AI without having to open a browser or navigate to the Gemini web version. It’s a clear indication of how Google is continuously aiming to expand its presence across the PC and mobile ecosystems.
Gemini app for Windows now available globally
According to Google, the new dedicated Gemini app is now available for global users and can be downloaded from the official desktop page.
Users must note that the app is only supported on Windows 10 and Windows 11. Moreover, its support documentation also mentions Windows 10 or later as the minimum system requirement, alongside at least 8GB of RAM and 200MB of storage.

Alt + Space provides instant Gemini access
One of the significant features of the Gemini Windows app is its keyboard shortcut.
After installing the Gemini app, users can simply press Alt + Space to launch the AI app anytime, anywhere. Similar to the web version, users can perform everyday tasks such as verifying information, searching for a query, creating presentation ideas, getting assistance in content writing, and getting answers inside the app.
A dedicated workspace for more complex tasks
Another major feature in the Gemini Windows app you will notice is its incorporation of a full Gemini workspace for a longer or more interactive experience.
Using the Gemini app, users can hand multi-step tasks to Gemini Spark, its AI agent that manages workflows. The platform can also utilize information from connected Google apps such as Gmail and Google Drive for tasks like drafting project summaries.
Anyway, access to Gemini Spark is subject to eligibility requirements. As per Google’s documentation, Spark will require a personal Google Account, users to be 18 or older, and an active Google AI subscription. Note that availability may vary by country or region.
Image and video creation built into the app
Apart from the Spark model, Google also brings Nano Banana, its image generation model inside the app, making the app a creative workplace. Gemini users can also create video using Gemini Omni within the app.
However, the availability of individual models and creative features can differ depending on a user’s personal account, subscription plan, and location.
