Apple has been working on several new technologies at the moment but the much-rumored Apple Car is getting everyone’s attention for the past few weeks. This technology is called as the Project Titan and has been making significant progress. It seems that Apple is in talks with a number of global automobile makers for the launch of an electric car. Now, in the latest development, Hyundai Motor has confirmed that the company is indeed in talks with Apple.
In a statement ojtained by CNBC, Hyundai said “we understand that Apple is in discussion with a variety of Global automakers, including Hyundai Motor. As the discussion is at its early stage, nothing has been decided.” This was initially reported by the Korean website Hankyung. The Korean publication has reported that the automaker will help Apple in producing electric vehicles as well as developing special batteries for the upcoming car. Also, a part of development of components for the car will take place at Hyundai Motors’ facilities in the United States.
This is not the first time we’ve heard that Apple will rely on partners to manufacture its own electric car. It is obvious condiering the company does not have as many facilities that are required to build a car. Last year, a report by Reuters said Apple Car production is expected to begin in 2024 with a breakthrough battery technology. The report also supports Bloomberg’s Apple Car still being half a decade away report, meaning the car will be introduced in 2027. The Cupertino tech gaint has a small team of hardware engineers developing drive systems, vehicle interior and external car body designs with the goal of eventually shipping a vehicle. Apple Car would rival electric vehicles from Tesla and offerings from companies like Lucid Motors and established manufacturers like Daimler AG’s Mercedes Benz and General Motor Co.’s Chevrolet.
