A previous report hinted towards July 23, the date when Asus could launch the second-generation ROG 2 gaming smartphones. Apparently, turns out the report was accurate and the Taiwanese brand is actually rolling out its new gaming phone on July 23 after a said poster was released on Weibo, a Chinese social media website.
There are not many details available about the smartphone and neither the launch event. The poster confirms the location and timing when Asus will showcase its upcoming smartphone and since Tencent Games is clearly mentioned on the poster, we could see something surprising at the launch event. Tencent Games is one of the largest game publishers in the world with PUBG Mobile as its most-renowned game released across both Android and iOS smartphones and accounts for hundreds of millions of devices.
The details on the upcoming Asus ROG 2 are scarce such as it sports a redefined Super AMOLED display with 120Hz which is still 75% faster refresh rate than its predecessor Asus ROG which had a 90Hz of refresh rate. DroidShut states that there could be two variants with model number I001DA and I001DB although we aren’t clear, however, one of the variants consists of an 18W fast charging while another takes the tool to 30W.
GSMArena stated that the phone has already received 3C certification marking its closeness towards its launch date which has now become apparent since we will get to see the new smartphone on July 23 along with a plethora of other gaming-oriented devices such as PRIME X299 Edition 30 and X570 motherboard from Asus as well.
Keeping the last-gen ROG smartphone in tab, the next-gen ROG 2 must feature the latest Snapdragon 855 octa-core chipset along with at least 6GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage at the minimum although we have seen phones with maximum 12GB RAM and 512GB of internal storage so we could see a number of storage variants with the Asus ROG 2 as well.
Finally, the phone is said to feature 4K video recording at 60fps, touch-sensitive shoulder buttons for gaming, enhanced tools that will refine gaming experience, and more. Check out True-Tech for more updates right away.
