There have been a lot of very interesting ideas from various countries, to increase their attractiveness to tourist of the rest of the world, but this one has got to be one of the coolest. The project was implemented in cooperation between the Korean OEM Samsung, the Korean mobile provider SK Telekom and the local Tourism Organization. Now, a free phone with so much data, that sounds fishy, but there is no catch. The whole thing was thought of to internationally promote Korea’s powerful wireless infrastructure.
If you are planning on visiting Korea yourself, you might wonder how to be selected and get one of the phones. First of all, you should know only tourists whose plane lands in Incheon International Airport in Seoul, have the chance. If yours does, great, head over to Korean Tourist Organization’s website and apply for it! If selected you’ll be lended a Samsung Galaxy Note for 5 days, with 1GB of free data each day.
