Samsung has finally started sending out the invites for its Galaxy Unpacked event which is going to take place on August 5. Due to the health concerns in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, the event is going to take place online for the first time. We can expect the South Korean tech giant to announce the Galaxy Note 20 series, Galaxy Fold 2, Galaxy Flip 5G, Galaxy Tab S7 series, Watch 3, and Buds X during this year’s Unpacked event. The company has announced that the event will take place on Wednesday, August 5, at 10 AM ET (7.30 PM IST) and will be live-streamed on the company’s official website.
Although the invitation from the company did not reveal a lot around the devices that will be announced at the event but going by the previous leaks and rumors, we can confirm that the Galaxy Note 20 series will be the elephant of the room. As mentioned earlier, the teaser is very mysterious, also by the standards of tech invitations, but the copper-colored splash on the invitation does match with those accidentally revealed images of Galaxy Note 20 Ultra which were found on Samsung Russian website. Maybe Samsung did not leak the images of the Note 20 Ultra in Mystic Bronze “accidentally”. I mean, if it isn’t for those leaked images, one wouldn’t have an idea why there is a copper splash on the Unpacked invitation.
Although we are not very sure of what Samsung is hiding under its sleeve with its upcoming flagship series, we still know that the company could introduce three Note variants this year – Galaxy Note 20, Galaxy Note 20+, and Note 20 Ultra. All these devices are expected to come with huge screens, 5G support, and of course the S-Pen. According to the previous reports, the Galaxy Note 20 will have a flat-screened display with only Full-HD resolution and 60Hz display refresh rate. The information comes to us from the Samsung Insider IceUniverse on Twitter.
IceUniverse also added that the comprehensive specifications of the Galaxy Note 20 are even lower than the last year’s Galaxy Note 10 that came out with a curved screen and narrower bezels. Considering all this, Galaxy Note 20 seems like a successor to the Galaxy Note 10 Lite instead of the Note 10. The leakster also revealed that the Note 20+ and Note 20 Ultra will arrive with 120 Hz LTPO display which offers Quad HD+ resolution. Now, using a 60Hz display on the vanilla Note 20 seems like a way for Samsung to make the customers pick the higher-priced Note 20 series devices over the vanilla variant.

We have recently witnessed the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra in the real-world hands-on images which were uploaded by a reliable Samsung leaker and YouTuber Jimmy is Promo. By looking at the images above one can clearly understand that the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra will have a slightly curved display and a center placed punch-hole camera notch. The Galaxy Note 20+ passed through FCC with a model number SM-N986U. All three Galaxy Note 20 devices are expected to arrive with Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC or Exynos 992, depending on the region, like always!
Rumors also suggest that Samsung might also announce two new foldable devices during the Unpacked event. One of the foldable devices is the Galaxy Flip but with 5G support this time. The other foldable device here is the Galaxy Fold 2 which has been a part of the rumor mill for quite a while now! The renders of the Galaxy Fold 2 popped online last month. The render of the Fold 2 posted by IceUniverse which proves that the upcoming Fold will not have a notch making the design look clean but comes with a slightly off placed camera. According to the previous reports, the exterior display of the Galaxy Fold 2 is 6.23-inch and the interior panel here is 7.7-inches. That is 1.63 inch and 0.43 inch larger than the ones found of the original Galaxy Fold.
Previous reports also suggested that the Galaxy Fold 2 will not feature the S-Pen. Another improvement here is that the Galaxy Fold 2 uses UTG (Ultra-Thin Glass) instead of CPI Glass (Colorless Polymide). This glass is currently only found on the Galaxy Z Flip. Talking about the Z Flip, the device recently hits the TENAA certification site. According to the certification site, the only changes here are with the chipset and connectivity. The design is just the same, as expected, but comes with Snapdragon 865 SoC this time, contrasting the last years 855+ chipset.
Now that we have discussed Flip 5G, Fold 2, and Galaxy Note 20 series of devices, let us talk a bit about the upcoming tablets from the company. Yes, the Galaxy Tab S7 series of tablets are expected to be announced during the Unpacked event. This tablet series from the company might go head-to-head with the latest iPad Pros from Apple. The Galaxy Tab S7 series is expected to come with high refresh rate d and AMOLED displays, which would give a slight edge to these devices over the likes of iPad Pro, as iPads come with ProMotion displays.
Now that we have discussed the big heads, let us talk about the Galaxy Watch 3 which might also get announced during the Unpacked 2020. The Galaxy Watch 3 support page went live recently hiring the launch reports true. According to the reports by XDA Developers, the pairing application i.e., Galaxy Wearable application contains assets that suggest the next-generation Samsung wearable. Other reports also confirm the Galaxy Wearable application also includes the asset of the Buds X.
The South Korean giant might as well have a lot of products that we do not know about. However, the Unpacked event is due on August 5, which is almost a month from now! We expect to get more information around the devices and the event itself as the launch date nears. Stay tuned for more Galaxy Unpacked coverage!
