After launching Samsung Galaxy S21 FE silently, the South Korean giant is working on an FE version for Galaxy S23. Aptly named Samsung Galaxy S23 FE, the device is expected to make its splash in the third quarter of this year at least in the US while others will have to wait.
Turns out the phone made its appearance on Geekbench and surprisingly, there are two chipset variants. According to the reports, the global variant with serial number SM-F711B has a 4nm Exynos 2200 SoC with 8 gigs of RAM and had a score of 1,613 and 4,049 points on single and multi-core tests respectively. For the unversed, it’s the same chipset as Galaxy S22 Ultra that received all the criticism due to its inefficiency when pitted against TSMC’s 4nm process that Qualcomm uses.
Anyways, the US version has a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC (made by TSMC’s 4nm process) hitting 1,549 and 3,718 points on single-core and multi-core tests on Geekbench. Carrying model number SM-F711U1, the US version sports 8 gigs of RAM too. Do note that there’s likely the global variant may resort to an underclocked Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC as well although that remains to be seen.
Note that there’s a likelihood India could get a different variant carrying model number SM-S711E with a Snapdragon SoC on-board. It will have 8 gigs of RAM although there aren’t many details available regarding the same.
Likely, there won’t be any major difference between the Galaxy S23 FE variants except the chipset. It means we could get a 6.4” 120Hz AMOLED panel, 50MP primary cam, a beefy 4,500mAh battery with 25W charging tech, and finally, an Android 13-powered One UI version as its software.
