- Oppo is working on a wide-screen smartphone much like Huawei Pura X and Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8.
- It means we will see an Oppo phone with a wide aspect ratio display unlike standard phones.
- Reports suggests it is a flagship-cadre phone with Dimensity 9-series SoC, a 200MP periscope cam, and alleged 7,000mAh of battery.
A month after the Oppo Reno16 series launched, the Chinese smartphone maker is expected to roll out a wide-screen smartphone dubbed Oppo Reno X. Turns out the phone has been rumored for a long time, and now, tipster DCS is putting emphasis on its imminent launch. Here’s the story.
OPPO Reno X with wide 16:10 display reportedly in development
According to tipster Digital Chat Station (via GSMArena), the Chinese smartphone maker Oppo is working on a wide-screen non-folding smartphone with a ginormous 200MP rear primary camera. Dubbed to arrive with a flagship-grade camera setup, the phone is also tipped to host a periscope telephoto snapper we saw on the Oppo Find X10 series. If true, we could be looking at a 200MP periscope telephoto found on the big brother Find X10 Pro Max, although I’ll take it with a pinch of salt as of now.
Oppo’s upcoming wide-angle smartphone is tipped to feature an LTPO display on-board measuring 6.3” to 6.4” with a wide aspect ratio of 16:10. Now, this would make the Reno X or the upcoming Oppo wide-screen smartphone wider than the Reno16 series that lies around 19.5:9.
Rivaling with the foes
We have started seeing wide-screen phones pop up all over. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 is a wide-screen foldable phone. In fact, there are two more phones incoming with the Galaxy Z Fold9 series. You can also check out Huawei Pura X, which is a wide-screen smartphone released in March 2025. In fact, the upcoming Oppo phone appears to resemble that of Pura X in terms of design, although there’s a possibility that the similarities end there.
Rumored specs at a glance
Previous reports suggest we could be getting a Dimensity 9-series chipset on board the Reno X. We are hoping it’s the Dimensity 9500 SoC since the newer Dimensity 9600 SoC hasn’t arrived yet. Of course, we could be totally wrong, as Oppo could be meaning a different 9-series Dimensity chipset, possibly to save on cost, although let’s give it a pass for now.
According to industry insiders, we could see a 50MP primary sensor on-board Oppo’s wide-screen smartphone. In fact, it could be a triple-rear-camera setup, possibly with a third ultrawide snapper.
Unfortunately, Oppo hasn’t divulged any information regarding Reno X yet. Watch out for this space as we bring the latest on Reno X and other tech news for our readers.
