One of the main reasons why we were so impressed with the original Poco F1 launch was that the phone has everything original. For example, we were seeing that almost every smartphone manufacturer would copy other manufacturers but Poco F1 was different. Since then, we are sad to report that even after Poco become an “independent” brand from Xiaomi, it has not been the same. However, the latest smartphone in Poco’s lineup which is a budget offering in M2 Pro is a blatant rebrand of the global Redmi Note 9 Pro.

The Poco brand was seen as the next OnePlus with a community that was excited after the Poco F1 but it has all gone downhill since then. Anyways, the Poco M2 Pro is official and it has been announced in India starting at Rs. 13,999. Design-wise, there is nothing to look for here since it is identical to the global version of Redmi Note 9 Pro with quad-cameras in a square module. The only thing changed is that the Redmi logo has been replaced by Poco one which is all that has changed.

The device also has a two-tone design which looks good and on the front, we have a middle punch-hole camera along with slimmer bezels that look symmetrical. Getting to the specifications, you have a 5000 mAh non-removable battery on the device with 33W fast-charger inside the box.

Along with that, you have the Snapdragon 720G chip inside the device that should give you more than decent performance in gaming. The display of this phone is a 6.67-inch LCD panel with FHD resolution and comes in 4/6GB RAM and 64 or 128GB internal storage variants. You do get a microSD slot for storage expansion and the cameras on this device is fairly good too.

There is a 16MP hole-punch selfie camera on the front along with a quad-camera setup at the back that houses 48MP primary, 8MP ultrawide, 5MP macro and a 2MP depth sensor. As for security, you get face unlock on the device which is software-based along with a physical fingerprint sensor on the home button. This device will be available on Flipkart in India from July 14 going up to Rs. 16,999 for the 6/128GB RAM and storage variant.
