  • Samsung Galaxy A06 has been launched in India with a Helio G85 SoC under the hood.
  • It is a successor to last year's Galaxy A05 and seemingly retains all the major specs.
  • Samsung has promised two years of OS upgrades and four years of security patches as a major USP on the Galaxy A06.

A lesser-known Galaxy A-series smartphone just popped up on the Samsung India e-store. Dubbed as Samsung Galaxy A06, the phone made its debut in India silently. It is the same device launched in Vietnam a few days ago and gives you access to yet another budget-friendly Galaxy A-series smartphone to choose from.

Samsung Galaxy A06 Specifications

The Galaxy A06 launched in India, as the name suggests, as a successor to Galaxy A05. It is equipped with a 6.7” HD+ 1600 × 720 pixels resolution display. A water drop-shaped notch sits on top housing an 8MP selfie cam. Flip the phone, and you’ll find a 50MP primary plus 2MP secondary shooter placed in the top-left corner without any camera bump.

A MediaTek Helio G85 SoC powers the phone alongside a Mali G52 GPU, 64/128GB of storage, and 4GB of single RAM configuration. On the software front, we have Android 14-based One UI out-of-the-box.

The South Korean giant has also promised two years of major Android OS upgrades plus four years of security patches. All in all, Galaxy A06 appears to be a worthy buy at this price tag given the extensive software support that comes with it.

A 5,000mAh battery runs the device for more than a day depending upon your use. Samsung has supplied 25W fast charging support on-board.

How’s Samsung Galaxy A06 Pitting Against Galaxy A05?

When it comes to what’s new in the A06 that the A05 didn’t have, unfortunately, there isn’t a major upgrade here. We are seeing the same chipset, the same design, and the same battery, front cam, and display.

We see the software has changed from Android 13 to 14 and that’s because it has been a year since A05 launched except for the promised software support. We see a side-mounted fingerprint scanner added on the Samsung Galaxy A06 so that’s a good start. However, everything else remains pretty much unchanged.
