Xiaomi 17 Ultra launch date and event details

Xiaomi 17 Ultra launch in China is confirmed, and it’s happening on December 25th. Post launch, Xiaomi 17 Ultra will rival the likes of Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max, and OnePlus 15, to name a few. In fact, it will likely outperform its own sibling, the Xiaomi 17 Pro, once it arrives. The launch is happening on December 25 at 19:00 local time, where Xiaomi will be hosting its partnership with Leica as well.

Xiaomi 17 Ultra features a hefty circular camera bump at the back with an inverted trapezoid-shaped camera lens arrangement. When I say hefty bump, I really mean it because the bump simply protrudes a lot above the rear panel. It does, however, include some of the finest camera lenses.

We are talking about a 1” LOPIC 50MP primary sensor plus a 200MP periscope lens with 4.3x optical zoom, 12mm-100mm focal length, that works by increasing dynamic range and decreasing pixel saturation. There’s a third 50MP ultrawide camera lens as well.

Smart Pikachu, a reputed tipster on Weibo, said Xiaomi is focusing more on optical purity with Xiaomi 17 Ultra, and that’s where Leica is a preferable partner.

Xiaomi 17 Ultra runs on Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 — as if we doubted it.  There’s a massive battery upgrade as well, although the number is still unknown; it comes between 6,000 and 7,000mAh, up from 5,410mAh on the Xiaomi 15 Ultra. The phone is slated to have a flat display, an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, dual satellite communication, and a structure made up of high-durability components.
