On Wednesday, Huawei came up with a lot of announcements such as the Huawei Mate 30 5G and Mate 30 Pro 5G were announced along with the launch date for much-awaited Huawei Mate X i.e. November 15. Yes, Huawei will launch its first-ever foldable device Mate X on November 15 at a price tag of 16,999 Yuan or $2,404 where it will mark in China-only launch but there’s more. Huawei teased an upcoming Huawei Mate Xs 5G foldable device to make its entry early next year with the ever-powerful Kirin 990 5G SoC.
According to the launch event, Huawei didn’t specify much of the details related to Huawei Mate Xs but that it will feature the latest Kirin 990 5G that will have an integrated 5G modem when compared to Mate X’ 980 5G which uses an external Balong 5000 modem for its 5G support.
Talking about Huawei Mate Xs’ Kirin 990 5G chipset, it features a larger & powerful NPU with 2 Big-Core + 1 Tiny-Core. Along with it, the chipset features a 16-core Mali-G76 GPU that will improve its graphics processing a lot of thanks to six more cores added to it. Finally, the CPU has octa-core with 2x Cortex-A76 cores at 2.86 GHz, 2x Cortex-A76 cores at 2.36 GHz + 4x Cortex-A55 cores at 1.95 GHz which sums up the SoC configuration and that is something I can say an impressive architecture and a powerful SoC that will power Huawei’s second foldable device slated to arrive on March 2020 which is barely 5 months from today which means we won’t have to wait for it much.
Huawei Mate X was teased last year and was delayed twice before the Chinese smartphone maker confirmed its launch day on Wednesday that’ll mark its entry in China that must enable it to mitigate the lost overseas sales after U.S. sanctioned ban on the second-largest smartphone maker after it alleged it to be acting as a spy for Chinese government. This has prevented the U.S. from using any of Huawei’s 5G infrastructure as well which is comparatively way more advanced than its rivals. Check out this space to know more about it.
